Delicious Bramble, or Blackberry, is very familiar from time spent foraging during autumn walks. The berries of Elder hang like shining jewels, and once prepared, help to reduce the length and severity of coughs, colds and ‘flu. The black colour of both Bramble and Elderberry is caused by the chemical Anthrocyanin, an antioxidant. The bright red rosehips of wild Dog Rose, full of Vitamin C, catch our eye as they twine through this hedgerow community. Common sightings in late Summer and Autumn hedgerows, Bramble, Elderberry and Rosehip offer a wild bounty and wonderful support for our immune systems.
