THE NEST

The Nest / Y Nyth is a beautiful, simply furnished, private cabin which provides stylish accommodation for solo travellers. It has a comfortable single bed, and an inspiring collection of books to borrow and enjoy during your stay.

Accommodation includes breakfast as well as tea making facilities, private outdoor eating area and use of a garden and fire pit. The main washing facilities are in the cottage, plus use of an outside loo with sink and hot water.

This is a perfect base from which to explore, being near to the Cambrian Mountains, Cardigan Bay and the inland rivers, valleys and waterfalls of this wonderful area. Although only 10 miles inland from Aberystwyth, you will be gloriously out numbered by nature, with Red Kites, Buzzards and Ravens often seen circling in the skies above, and Owls calling at night.

Time here offers both peace and space, making it ideal for artists, writers, walkers, cyclists, nature lovers; anyone wanting to rest and recharge, inspired and nourished by nature.

For walkers and cyclists, secure storage for bikes and backpacks is available.

A cooked vegetarian or vegan, or continental style breakfast is included at £50 per night, with a minimum 2 night stay.

Vegetarian or vegan picnics are available on request from £5. All food is home or locally grown wherever possible, supporting the many talented producers in this region.

WORKSHOPS

If you would like to use your time away to learn a new skill, I offer the following:

  • botanical drawing

  • printmaking, using relief techniques such as lino

  • wild gathering for folk medicine, food and fermenting

  • wild plant identification walks

  • skills in working with clay, either hand building or using a potters wheel to throw a pot

    All of my botanic work is with local wild plants, so we will be observing and working with whatever beauties are growing at the time of your visit. This can be discussed and agreed in advance to make sure it is just right for you. I love sharing my knowledge and expertise and have taught for many years, working with beginners and professional artists and makers.

    Prices start at £25 per hour and include all materials and equipment required as well as guidance notes for each session. Importantly, you get to keep what you make.
